FAQ + POLICIES

What is mobile pet grooming?

Mobile pet grooming is a salon on wheels that shows up right at your door! I will drive my mobile grooming bus to your home and groom your pet inside of the van. I have all the equipment necessary for grooming on wheels!

What area do you service?

I provide service to Salida, Buena Vista, Howard, Cotopaxi, and Canon City.

Do you need to plug into my electric outlet or use my water?

Yes, our van needs an electrical outlet to plug into. I will arrive with my water tank filled, and will warm my water tank while at your property. Occasionally things happen here in the mountains, and I may need to fill water at your home if I am having issues with my equipment.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, and credit cards (Master card, Visa, American Express, and Discover).  All grooming fees must be paid at the time of service.

Do you accept tips?

Absolutely, tips are always appreciated.

I have a special needs pet. Is that a problem?

No. Some animals need a little more attention or time, and that is fine with me. I will take your pets medical history into account. If I feel during any point of the session that your pet is in pain, extremely uncomfortable, or aggressive, I will stop and finish at a later time.  There will be no discounts or reduced charges for aborted sessions. Your pets' well being is my prime concern.

Why is mobile grooming more expensive than at a shop?

Mobile grooming is a luxury, convenience based service, which means it will cost more than taking your dog to a salon. Unlike most groomers, we groom your dog from start to finish, and include travel time between appointments; because of this, we are not able to groom as many dogs as a salon, and this affects our prices. In addition, The Travelling Dog Groomer is owned and operated by a Nationally Ranked Master Groomer who believes in certification and continuing education so we are always up to date on trends, new techniques and discovering new ways to improve your dog's grooming. Our years of experience, training, and quality of our work is reflected in our price.

Why can’t you give me an exact price when I first contact you for an appointment?

If I have not yet met your dog, I will often give you a price range that we anticipate charging for the service you request. Once we arrive at your appointment, we can see things like the condition and length of your dog’s coat and the dog’s behavior to see if there are any factors that may make the grooming appointment take a bit longer than usual, and therefore cost a bit more.

Does my dog or cat have to be up to date on his vaccinations?

Yes, you will need to provide a copy of your pet's rabies and distemper vaccinations, along with your veterinarian's name and phone number.  This is protection for your pet.

How old should my puppy be before he gets his first groom?

It is good to have your puppy become familiar with grooming as early as possible after the first set of puppy shots, usually 12-16 weeks of age. This will help him learn at an early age that grooming is a pleasant experience.

What if I want something changed or redone after my dog is finished?

Your satisfaction is very important to us! If you notice something when I finish your pet I can often take care of it for you prior to leaving your home. If you notice something after you leave, we ask that you give us a call within 24 hours so we can arrange a time to tweak the groom while your pet is still clean. If you wait longer than 48 hours to notify me, I will not be able to fix the groom.

What type of products will you use on my pet?

In an attempt to give our clients the best service, we use only premium shampoos and conditioners that are designed specifically for pets.  However, if you prefer that we use your pet shampoo, just provide us with it.

My dog/cat sheds all the time, any help for that?

Yes, I  can de-shed the coat during and after bathing which reduces shedding.

My dog/cat is really, really matted, what can you do for him?

I offer a relaxing, pain free grooming experience for your pet.  If your pet is severely matted, I would offer to shave down the coat using my longest length blade that will penetrate the mats.  If this is not acceptable to you, you might want to comb out the mats with particular attention to the stomach, underarms, and behind the ears before I arrive.  Just remember, it is more humane to cut down the coat and start all over again than to de-mat a heavily matted coat. Also, decreasing the time between appointments and/or settling for a different coat style could be discussed at this time.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Generally, I will not answer my phone during a grooming appointment.  However, you can leave me the following information and I will get back with you ASAP between appointments (time permitting) or at the end of my work day.

-Please leave your name & address with zip code

-Your dog or cat's breed and age

-The last time he was professionally groomed

-Special attention needs, ie:  disabled, senior or aggressive tendencies

-What type of grooming schedule you would like to be on.

-Type of groom/haircut, or just a luxury bath, etc.

What if the client needs to cancel their pet's appointment?

No problem, as long as you notify us 24 hours in advance of your appointment so that I can try to fill this time slot with another client's pet.  If it is less than 24 hours, please call me on my cell phone (719-207-1578) thus saving me from driving to your residence.  If you do not call to cancel your appointment, a $35.00 fee will be assessed, which must be paid prior to your next appointment.
